Disability insurance

People who have been exposed to an accident or serious illness at a young age, and who become disabled because of this, risk becoming one of tomorrow’s minimum pensioners. Disability insurance covers:
– loss of income due to disability, which protects you financially against incapacity for work as a result of illness or injury. Disability insurance is therefore something everyone should have, young and old.

Disability insurance is a type of insurance that provides financial protection if you become ill or suffer an accident and can no longer work. Many people experience a large reduction in their income due to long-term illness, often a halving, and will only be covered by disability benefits from NAV. Disability insurance can help you secure your finances in the event that you become disabled.

  • Disability insurance Super – provides a monthly payment
  • Disability insurance Extra – provides a one-off payment with monthly advances

Disability insurance Super is a form of insurance that gives you monthly payments if you have been at least 50% sick for a period of 12 months. This insurance gives you support right up to the age of 67, and it covers all types of illnesses.

Disability insurance Ekstra is an insurance scheme that gives you a monthly payment if you have been on sick leave for at least 50% during one year. If you become permanently disabled and can no longer work, you will receive the remainder of the insurance sum as a lump sum.

Criteria: Disability insurance can be taken out by anyone aged 18-55, resident in Norway for the past 5 years or a Norwegian, Swedish or Danish citizen residing in Norway. The insured must be 100% able to work, corresponding to 100% of the position, in order to purchase insurance.

Death insurance

A death insurance policy is an insurance scheme that provides financial security to those you care about in the event of your death. In the event of death, the sum insured will be paid out as a lump sum, and you have the option of deciding who will receive the payment. Thus, death insurance helps to secure the family finances in the event of death.

It is particularly important if you have debt, support children, or have a joint loan with your partner/spouse. In some cases, it is also desirable if someone has vouched for you. The need is particularly great if one or both have children from previous relationships, so-called special litter children. They will have the right to their mother’s or father’s inheritance and then it is good to have money to pay them, rather than having to sell the home.

A death insurance policy provides a lump sum payment to those you have chosen as beneficiaries in the event of death, regardless of the cause. If you are married, the money will go to your spouse, while if you have not specified a beneficiary, the payment will follow the inheritance law. Cohabitants are not automatically entitled to payment, so it is important to state who will be the beneficiary.

  • Life insurance can be taken out for people between 18 and 67 years of age.
The insurance ends when the insured reaches the age of 80.
  • To be able to apply for life insurance, you must have lived continuously in Norway for a minimum of five years or be a Norwegian, Swedish or Danish citizen residing in Norway.
  • The insured must be a member of Norwegian National Insurance when the insured event occurs.

Why should you have insurance against serious illness?

Serious illness can affect anyone, and in such a situation you will want to focus on getting well, without having to worry about finances. Insurance against serious illness gives you and your family financial security in a challenging time. In the case of selected serious illnesses and injuries, the insurance will pay out a one-off payment.

To ensure optimal financial protection, it is recommended that you buy insurance equivalent to your gross annual salary.

How does the payout work?
You will be paid the entire sum insured when a final diagnosis has been made, and the insurance company has received all the necessary documentation.

Criteria:

  • The insured must be a member of Norwegian National Insurance when the insured event occurs.
  • Disability insurance can be taken out by anyone aged 18-60, resident in Norway for the past 5 years or a Norwegian, Swedish or Danish citizen resident in Norway.

Child insurance

Children’s insurance secures the child’s finances in the event of a serious illness or accident. Even after the child has become an adult, the insurance will continue to take care of it.

It is recommended that all children have insurance, as it makes it easier for the child and the family should something happen. If the child falls ill for a long time and cannot work as an adult, they will only receive support from NAV, and it is therefore important to have insurance.

For optimal protection, we recommend Children’s Insurance Extra or Super, as these include both a one-off payment and a monthly payment in the event of a long-term illness. All insurance sums are stated in G, which as of 01/05/2022 amounts to NOK 111,477.
